Answers about lab-grown diamonds, rare cuts, certification, and visiting us in Udaipur.
All stones at Curio are lab-grown. They are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds — grown in controlled conditions using the same carbon and crystal structure, just over weeks rather than millennia. They carry the same certifications, the same grading, and the same permanence. The difference is in origin, not in the stone.
IGI (International Gemological Institute) and GIA (Gemological Institute of America) are the two most respected diamond grading labs in the world. Every stone we sell carries a certificate confirming its cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight — assessed independently, not by us. The certificate also includes an inclusion plot, a laser-inscribed stone ID, and the cut grade. We recommend IGI for lab-grown stones; GIA for those who prefer the older name.
A round brilliant was mathematically optimised in 1919 for maximum light return under overhead daylight. Rare cuts — Portuguese, Ashoka, Dutch Marquise, and others — were developed for different conditions, different aesthetics, different purposes. They each have their own optical signature; they did not converge on a single formula. This is precisely why they feel personal rather than default.
Yes. Most stones shown are available for commission in your choice of metal — 14K or 18K white, yellow, or rose gold — and ring size. Visit us at the boutique in Panchwati, Udaipur, or enquire via WhatsApp to discuss your requirements. Turnaround from stone selection to finished piece is typically 3–4 weeks.
We are at Anjali Design Studio, Panchwati, Udaipur — 313 001, Rajasthan. Walk-ins are welcome during store hours. For viewing specific stones or cuts, WhatsApp us a day before and we'll ensure the pieces are available on the day.
Prices shown on individual pieces are for the finished piece — stone, setting, and certification. If you are enquiring about a loose stone or a custom commission, we will quote stone and setting separately so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
We are honest about this: diamonds — lab-grown or mined — are not financial investments in the way that gold or property can be. What we sell is jewellery: an object made to be worn, appreciated, and passed down. The value of a rare cut is in its character, its craftsmanship, and what it means to the person wearing it — not in a resale spreadsheet.
From stone selection to finished piece is typically 3–4 weeks. This includes setting design confirmation, casting, stone setting, and quality check. Pieces requiring complex settings or specific metal alloys may take slightly longer. We will give you a precise timeline at the time of commission.
